Bruges – Jeruzalemkerk

If you are looking for an extraordinary site that places you in discomfort, visit Jeruzalemkerk in Bruges. This private chapel, belonging to the Adornes family, was built in the 15th century. The whole of the work is incomparable, such as the black marble tomb of Anselme Adornes and Margaretha van der Banck, the stained glass windows, the altarpiece where human skulls are integrated, the Holy Cross, the detail of the interior and the exterior architectural style.

Anselme Adornes was assassinated in Scotland in 1483. Only his heart could be repatriated and is preserved in this place.

The tomb is under repair in 2022. Review to see if it is put back in place before your visit.
