Prague – Church of Our Lady Before Týn

You will definitely notice the church despite that it is set back behind a row of houses on the Old Town Square.  The gothic structure with its two towers pierce the sky and are not likely to be missed when visiting the area.  Look carefully. The towers are not identical but have similar architectural characteristics and style.

The church is not the first nor the second but the third church to be built on this site. The construction of this church began in the 14th century but was not completed until the 1450’s. Unfortunately, it was struck by lightning in 1679 and only some parts were saved from the fire.  The interior has a Baroque Style.

In this church rests the Astronomer Tycho Brahe.

It is a very popular photo opportunity.
