Rue des Bouchers (Butcher’s Street) is a very colorful and lively place in Brussels. On this vibrant pedestrian street, there is a chain of restaurants. The terraces invade the street and the waiters are very present, persistent and woo potential customers to come and sit down at their restaurant. Try to look up to notice the architecture with the stepped roofs without blocking the narrow passage left for circulation.
Discovering rue des Bouchers is, in itself, a must, but many will discourage you from having a meal there. The quality of several restaurants gives a negative image as a whole considering this street as a tourist trap.
As its name suggests, this street was where there was a series of butchers and sausage makers, but be aware that in the Middle Ages there was some control over who sold what.
