Prague – Loreto

You might have noticed from my previous post that I do visit churches but it gets to a point that my family gets tired of doing so and I have to admit that we can’t visit all of them. With limited time in Prague we noticed this beautiful building while we were walking on our way to the castle. So, while we stopped by, we did not visit the interior which looks stunning, peaceful and soothing.

The construction took place between 1626 and 1750 and it is not a single church. It is a pilgrimage site, a sanctuary, a complex with many treasures, chapels and an emphasis on female saints. There is a beautiful row of sculptures on the front, and the clock tower with bells cast in Amsterdam in the first half of the 17th century, plays a melody on the hour and is worth a detour.
