Shibuya / Minato
A large commercial street with wide sidewalks and lined with trees, Omotesando Street is the showcase for several big names in fashion. The boulevard connects Harajuku (Harajuku Station) to Aoyama (Omotesando Station).
For those who want to add one or more collector’s items to their wardrobe, you may find the limited, exclusive and much-dreamed-of item in one of the high-end boutiques. Obviously, exclusive and limited also means expensive, but everyone manages their budget.
Some of the big names include: Chanel, Dior, Vuitton, Fendi, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, Yves St-Laurent, Hermes, Tiffany, Gucci, Loewe, Celine, Bvlgari, Boss and more.
Know that the street offers more than just clothing stores. You may want to simply stroll, grab a bite at a café, eat at one of the restaurants, admire the architecture and discover pieces of art nestled in the shops.
You will understand that unlike Takeshita Street, Omotesando Street has a calmer atmosphere and the adult clientele is more relaxed and has a thicker wallet.
The flow of car traffic is more important than elsewhere and it is one of the rare streets where parking is possible.
In addition to the galleries, three museums are nearby: the Nezu Museum, Watari-um, The Watari Museum of Contemporary Art and Ota Memorial Museum of Art.
The Ginza district, near Tokyo station, also has several big names in fashion.
