Tokyo – Inuibori Park and Inui-mon

Chiyoda

There is little information about this park, which is located near the Inui-mon gate of the Imperial Palace complex and across from Kitanomaru Park. The Inui-mon is an entrance to the Fukiage section imperial residence grounds. During the rare annual events that give public access to the imperial palace grounds, the path often ends by exiting through the Inui-mon gate.

What caught my attention was actually the bronze statue in the garden showing a girl playing the aulos, an ancient double-tube wind instrument of Greek origin. This statue is named “Forest Melody” and was created by Kagose Mitsuo.

This statue does not seem to be linked to any historical element or character, but rather to soothe and beautify this urban park.

We passed by while heading to the East Garden of the Imperial Palace.
