Tokyo – Kokugakuin University Museum

Shibuya

We found this site by chance. We weren’t lost, but were wandering the streets randomly towards another destination when we saw this place and stopped to check out this free museum and take a break from the hot weather.

The museum aims to preserve, strengthen, maintain, present and teach the history, traditions and richness of Japanese culture through authentic objects. The collection comes largely from the Archaeology (1928) and Shinto (1963) museums, but also from university material, which has constituted what has been the Kokugakuin University Museum since 2013.
