Chiyoda
Located on the northeast side of the boulevard that separates the Imperial Palace and the Tokyo Train Station, a peaceful rest area has been set up. The park does not have any children’s play facilities but instead has fountains and a Starbucks cafe.
As part of the Kokyo Gaien, this location is directly linked to royal weddings, namely those of former Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in 1961 and, of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako in 1993 when they were prince and princess. In 1995, the revamped site became a public space where the fountains’ several-meter-high jets of water put on shows throughout the day until sunset.
This island of freshness that integrates concrete benches is a space to take a break while admiring the play of jets of the fountains. In the evening, the lighting, the large office buildings in the background and the fountains give a romantic air to the place. The ideal photo is at its best if it is synchronized with the rhythm of the water jets.
You can combine this stop with Tokyo Station, Imperial Palace, Kokyo Gaien National Garden or the East Garden of the Imperial Palace.
