New York City – Stone Street

Within New York’s financial sector hides one of the oldest streets in the city and which, in the evening, comes alive with restaurants that overflow onto the street, to create a sparkling place of trendy people. Weather conditions permitting, large tables take up the entire street to the point that foot traffic is difficult but invite you to grab a bite to eat with or without beer and meet people.

It was in 1658 that this street became the first to be paved in New Amsterdam. The fire of 1835 destroyed a large part of the establishments around this artery. As early as 1836, warehouse stores were rebuilt, but over time the premises lost interest. No trace of this negligence is apparent today on the facade of this narrow artery which now includes a series of restaurants/bars.

I would like to draw your attention to the delicious pizza from Adrienne’s Pizzabar and be advised that the burgers at Stone Street Tavern are actually mini-mini-burgers which might not satisfy your appetite.

From here, it’s easy to get to the Staten Island ferry, Battery Park, Wall Street, James Watson House, Fraunces Tavern or the 9/11 Memorial.
