New York City – The Charging Bull

It is as a message of hope that the Italian artist Arturo Di Modica chose to clandestinely install, on the evening of December 14, 1989, a massive bronze statue of a charging bull in front of the offices of the Wall Street Stock Exchange.  The same evening of the installation, it was seized by the authorities. A few days later, on December 20, the 7000-pound piece reappeared, this time at Bowling Green, not far away. Despite not being on Broadway, it is known as the bull of Wall Street.

The bull symbolizes focus, power and strength in the face of the opponent.  People come from all around to touch it for luck or for a selfie.

Installed in the center of a relatively busy artery, the bull of Wall Street draws crowds.
