Parc de la Chute-Montmorency – Quebec

Montmorency Falls Park (Parc de la Chute-Montmorency)

Just a short drive from Québec City, the Montmorency Falls Park offers a stunning natural escape that’s easy to visit and perfect for families. The waterfall stands 83 meters high, making it even taller than Niagara Falls (which measures 51 meters).

Getting There & Access

You can park either at the base or the top of the falls. Your parking ticket is valid for both sections if used on the same day. Access to the site itself is included in the parking fee, so there’s no additional entrance charge.
Note: The same parking lot serves both the park and the Montmorency Manor (Manoir Montmorency).

Top of the Falls

At the summit, you’ll find:

  • Montmorency Manor – A historic building offering insight into the area’s past
    • On-site restaurant
    • Gift shop
    • Restrooms
  • A green space with picnic tables
  • Access to the suspension bridge, which offers breathtaking views directly over the falls

Reaching the Bottom

To get to the base of the falls, you can either take the cable car or descend via a long staircase carved into the cliffside (great for those looking for a bit of exercise). At the foot of the falls, you can walk close enough to feel the refreshing spray—a free and fun way to cool off!

Activities & Amenities

If you’re looking to add some adventure, the park offers zip-lining and via ferrata (rock climbing) along the cliff walls—available at an extra cost.

At the lower section, you’ll also find:

  • A flat walking path that brings you close to the falls
  • A snack bar
  • A playground for younger children

In short: Montmorency Falls is a beautiful natural site that combines spectacular views, family-friendly facilities, and optional adrenaline-pumping activities. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the visit!
